THE IVY, WINDSOR

The Ivy Windsor, a new establishment to Windsor but a very popular one, with its opulent interior common with The Ivy chain restaurants across the UK, it is a hit with the locals.

Ambience

The Ivy has an inviting feel to it, from the outside sitting opposite Windsor Castle and in the high street, it is slap bang in the middle of everything and easy to spot. It is warm and inviting and we were greeted by a lovely hostess who took us to our table. On our way to our table, we passed the beautiful and opulent bar which had a royal feel to it as well as being surrounded by the iconic indoor plants situated throughout the restaurant. The restaurant felt busy but for a weekend that is to be expected and even though it was full for a Saturday afternoon, the staff seemed upbeat and attentive.

Service

The service was impeccable, for a busy Saturday afternoon the service could not be faulted as the staff were very accommodating, friendly and polite.

Food & Drink

We had ordered a cocktail each, followed by a starter and main. There was a sizeable selection of items to choose from the Weekend Brunch menu and we had opted for the Buffalo Mozzarella & Duck Salad for starters followed by Buttermilk Pancakes for mains which looked like a small amount but was surprisingly filling. The cocktails were also delicious and we had ordered the Bloodflowers Margarita which had a beautiful lilac flower as a garnish and The Ivy Royal which was presented again with a beautiful flower garnish also.

We were both very full from the mains and chose to have coffee as an aperitif and it was a lovely surprise to be presented with a birthday dessert which the staff had brought swiftly with the coffee. Perfect timing! This made the whole experience incredibly special and memorable and was a great start for an early birthday celebration for Jas!

Price

The price in total came to £85 with a service charge, and was about £42 per person with drinks included. It is on the more pricey side but for the service and ambience as well as everything else it is a fair price in comparison with other eating and drinking establishments in Windsor.

Overall experience

Our overall experience of The Ivy was a fabulous one, from the impeccable service to the decor and ambience of the restaurant. It is on the more expensive side but for a special occasion or a celebratory occasion this is definitely one to consider. Zey & Jas will definitely be back again soon for a meal here and take in the sights of Windsor.
